Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has urged the Khosi faithful to support him in building the team after their triumph in the Nedbank Cup on Saturday.

Amakhosi secured a 2-1 victory over Orlando Pirates at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, ending a 10-year trophy drought. Nabi, who has been under pressure this season, inspired his troops to an unlikely Nedbank Cup triumph despite Pirates being favourites.

Nasreddine Nabi delivers but will he last?

The Tunisian tactician became the first coach in 10 years to win a trophy at Chiefs. Despite the cup success, Amakhosi have had an average season and could finish outside the top 8 in the Betway Premiership.

“First, I am very happy for the fans, honestly happy for the chairman and all the members of the family, and also very happy for the players,” Nabi told the media.

“But for me it is about the process. I am serious and honest about the process because it will help me, and it will help us play for the title nationally and on the continent.”

Nasreddine Nabi feels he is building a team for the future and has called on fans to support his vision of building a competitive team.

“I’m honest, this is a process, and I said, ‘Please help me to continue to build respect for the state of the process after it happened… I gave the team and go home.”

Despite his cup success, Sunday Times reported that Nasreddine Nabi will leave Chiefs at the end of the season.

“The Sunday Times can reveal that Kaizer Chiefs’ top brass have decided against allowing Nasreddine Nabi — who was hired on a two-year deal in July, with an option to extend for another year — to continue beyond the 2024/25 campaign,” the publication reported.
