Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane is set to join Iranian club Esteghlal Khuzestan FC according to reports.

The 60-year-old experienced coach recently worked in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), establishing a strong reputation on the continental stage.

Pitso Mosimane could coach in Iran in the coming weeks

In recent weeks, ‘Jingles’ was linked with a potential move to Raja Casablanca but the Moroccan club appointed Portuguese coach Ricardo Sá Pinto instead. Earlier this year, Mosimane took over as Abha FC but the ex-Downs mentor failed to prevent the club from getting relegated from the Saudi Pro League.

Since then, Pitso Mosimane has been without a club despite links to the Nigerian national soccer team. On Thursday, Soccer Laduma reported that Jingles was a strong contender for the job at Esteghlal Khuzestan.

According to reports from the Siya crew, “Following a dismal start to their season, with only one victory from seven matches, Esteghlal Khuzestan FC are contemplating bringing in Mosimane to restore their fortunes.”

Pitso Mosimane is the most successful coach in South Africa having won five league titles with Masandawana. He also guided the Tshwane-based team to their first and only CAF Champions League triumph in 2016.

Will Pitso succeed in Iran?
