Pink breaks record for highest-grossing female tour

Pink’s Summer Carnival tour has officially set a new record, becoming the highest-grossing tour ever by a female artist.

PINK’S AMAZING NUMBERS

The global sensation raked in an eye-watering R11.1 billion, overtaking Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour, which grossed R11 billion last year.

This achievement cements Pink’s reputation as one of the most thrilling live performers in music today, according to Billboard.

While the numbers are dazzling, context matters. Pink played 97 shows during her tour, almost double Beyoncé’s 56.

PINK VS TAYLOR SWIFT

This extended schedule helped the 45-year-old pop star clinch the title. Still, her fans insist the experience was worth every cent.

However, Pink’s reign may be short-lived.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour is poised to eclipse both Pink and Beyoncé once its official numbers are tallied, according to the Daily Mail.

Early projections estimate the Eras Tour will gross an unprecedented R38 billion, making it the most lucrative tour of all time.

PINK AND AUSTRALIA

Pink’s connection to her fans in Australia has played a major role in her success.

She holds the record for the most tickets sold by any international artist in the region, with over 3.1 million tickets sold across six tours, according to RCA Records.

During the Summer Carnival, she performed an astounding 20 stadium shows across Australia and New Zealand—a feat no other female artist has achieved.

PINK AND HER FANS

“I’m not often lost for words, but you really did it to me this week,” Pink wrote in a heartfelt message to fans.

“Your support is never lost on me. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Here’s to another 20 years together.”

Pink has such a strong bond with Australia that she once considered applying for citizenship.

AGEISM IN THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY

Speaking to 60 Minutes in 2023, she joked, “If we are going somewhere, Carey, that’s where we’re going. I was kind of looking into it.”

Despite her record-breaking success, Pink has faced challenges. She recently spoke out against what she calls “ageist” attitudes in the entertainment industry.

“Insurance companies have tried to say no.” “I told them they’re ageist. They didn’t have a problem when I was 25, and I’m stronger now. I’m in the best shape of my life.”

TOURING SUCCESS

She also compared her situation to male athletes.

“Look at all these dudes in the NFL. They do crazy stuff, and you insure them. But they point out that I can’t be replaced. Still, it’s frustrating.”

Pink’s touring success resonates with South African fans, many of whom have eagerly awaited her concerts.

PINK AND SOUTH AFRICA

Although she has yet to perform extensively in South Africa, her aerial stunts and powerhouse vocals have won over fans worldwide.

Her blend of acrobatics and live singing remains unmatched, making her shows unforgettable spectacles.

With Taylor Swift set to break records soon, Pink’s achievement might be temporary.

But for now, the Summer Carnival tour proves that Pink remains one of music’s most beloved stars. As she once sang, “Raise your glass!”
