Reality TV star Pearl Thusi opened a can of worms after addressing trolls about the hatred she faces on social media.
X users dug up a 2016 video, in which Thusi made fun of Bonang Matheba, following her domestic violence incident.

Actress Pearl Thusi is trending on X after sharing a series of tweets aimed at responding to online criticism.
This comes after she started 2025 to spread positivity and encourage kindness, but it backfired.
“Once you’re happy for YOU, no one can change how you should feel. Always choose YOU. And remember that God is the one who provides you with blessings other people don’t think you deserve,” she wrote.
In another tweet, Thusi expressed frustration at the hate she receives online.
“I’ll never understand sometimes the level of hate and disrespect I get here. I just live my life, and how that upsets so many people, I’ve realised, is not my concern to understand. But if lying and dragging my name makes you happy, I’m glad I brought that short-lived happiness,” she tweeted.
However, X users did not buy it and instead lashed out at her after unearthing an old clip in which she mocked Queen B.

In 2016, DJ Euphonik referred to Bonang Matheba as ‘hlanyo,’ meaning “crazy,” following a domestic violence incident. The term gained popularity, and Euphonik made money from it by releasing a line of T-shirts that ridiculed Queen B.
In the resurfaced video, Thusi and her friend Linda Moeketsi laughed at the situation, jokingly asking Euphonik where they could get the T-shirts.
Thusi jokingly said that she is ‘hlanyo,’ Linda is ‘hlanyo,’ and that everyone is ‘hlanyo.’ Many have since slammed Thusi for allegedly being an abuse apologist.
