Orlando Pirates v Richards Bay: Kick-off, injuries and suspension

Orlando Pirates host Richards Bay on Tuesday night looking to maintain their 100 percent record in the Betway Premiership.

The Buccaneers have won all six of their league fixtures so far. Fresh from a solid 2-0 victory away to TS Galaxy, they’ve managed to keep the pressure on second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns, maintaining a three-point lead.

Orlando Pirates have been solid at both ends of the pitch this season, averaging two goals per match while showcasing a rock-solid defence that has only been breached twice. Three additional points will guarantee that they secure their hold on the top of the standings prior to the break, while also sealing their best start to the league campaign in the PSL era.

Richards Bay are coming to Soweto with intent after eliminating Cape Town City in the Carling Knockout Cup after a tense penalty shootout this past weekend.

Orlando Pirates looking to extend lead

The Natal Rich Boys coach Brandon Truter will be without two of his key players, Yanela Mbuthuma and Langelihle Mhlongo due to suspension. That can very much give the Sea Robbers an advantage but the club’s Performance Analyst Rayaan Jacobs is not taking the KZN outfit lightly.

“We know Richards Bay played over the weekend, so they’ll be in good form and high on confidence after reaching the semi-finals,” Jacobs told Orlando Pirates’ media department.

“We won’t take them at face value; we’ve done our work and research on them. We’re well aware of how Brandon (Truter) prepares when facing Pirates—he always has something special planned.

“We saw that last time we went down to Durban, so we’re prepared for the unexpected and ready to be surprised tomorrow evening.”

Orlando Pirates have only lost once in 15 games across all competitions this season. The match between the Buccaneers and Richards Bay will kick off at 19:30 at the Orlando Pirates on Tuesday.
