Orlando Pirates legend Moeneeb Josephs says the Buccaneers need a few more quality players to stretch this term’s success to next season and beyond.
TWO SIGNINGS FOR ORLANDO PIRATES
According to the former Bucs number one, Stellenbosch FC’s Fawaaz Basadien and Polokwane City’s Oswin Appollis should wear the famous black and white next season.
“If you look at Appollis and Basadien, I think they can be quality signings for Orlando Pirates, which is competing on the African continent [CAF Champions League],” Josephs said on the Soccer Beat podcast, as quoted by FARPost.
“If you’re going to compete at that level, you need depth, a player like Basadien who’s been consistent throughout this season. So I think he’ll be a great signing and add something to the team, he has qualities, can take set pieces, and has the engine to go up and down the flank.
“When you look at a player like Appollis, it will be a top signing if Relebohile Mofokeng gets a move to Europe, because he has to move to bigger and better things.
“So with Appollis, if we sign him, he looks very active as a 10 and as a false 9. He is effective on the right and left side, but we can use him in the 10 position where Kabelo Dlamini and Patrick Maswanganyi play. The signing will add a little more competition in that position,” the former Orlando Pirates captain concluded.
