RELEBOHILE MOFOKENG’S SHIN GUARDS TREND
Soweto giants Orlando Pirates edged Al Ahly 2-1 in their final Caf Champions League Group C game at Cairo International Stadium on Saturday.
This was Orlando Pirates’ second away win in North Africa in the group stages. The Soweto giants also beat CR Belouizdad in Algeria as they made their intentions known in the tournament.
However, despite being on target and making history with Orlando Pirates, Relebohile Mofokeng’s shin guards stole the hearts of many.
He had customised shin guards with one of his pictures with Thembinkosi Lorch while at Orlando Pirates.
Over the years, Relebohile Mofokeng has regarded Lorch as his role model and had the honour of sharing the stage with him at Orlando Pirates.
On the other hand, the former Orlando Pirates star has since lauded Relebohile Mofekeng as one of the best talents in South Africa.
Photos of Relebohile Mofokeng’s shin guards have flooded online, and fans have shared their two cents. Thembinkosi Lorch’s illustrious stint at Orlando Pirates was quickly implicated in the mix.
THEMBINKOSI LORCH’S CAREER
In 2015, Thembinkosi Lorch joined Orlando Pirates. However, he was loaned out during his first two seasons.
He played for Cape Town All Stars and Chippa United during the 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 seasons before returning to the Orlando Pirates.
Since then, he has been winning big. The 2018/2019 season was arguably Thembinkosi Lorch’s best season.
No doubt his stellar season with Orlando Pirates saw DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small dropping a smash hit in his honour titled ‘Lorch.’
During the peak of his career, he was undoubtedly the club’s poster boy despite his bad behaviour off the pitch.
He managed over 100 caps for the Soweto giants. During his stint with Orlando Pirates, he lifted the MTN8 thrice and the Nedbank Cup and Carling Black Label Cup once.
However, despite Lorch’s big wins, some fans are more than convinced that he will be one of the greatest stars to come from Africa.
