Orlando Pirates overtake Kaizer Chiefs in Fawaaz Basadien chase!

Orlando Pirates have been tipped to beat arch rivals Kaizer Chiefs to the signing of a Bafana Bafana international.

Both Chiefs and Pirates are usually in competition for players of a high quality and sometimes the same players.

Chiefs anf Pirates competing on the market

Already in the previous window there have been several players that are linked with a move to either Chiefs or Pirates. Oswin Appollis, Thabang Matuludi of Polokwane City have been the most prominent duo. There has also been now injured Golden Arrows striker Lungelo Nguse and Stellenbosch FC left-back Fawaaz Basadien. The one that has gone quiet for both parties has been Cape Town Spurs youngster Asanele Velebayi. With the struggles of his team in the First Division, he could, perhaps be one to watch at the end of the campaign.

Basadien seems like he will be the next hot topic between the two Soweto giants. Chiefs were believed to have made an inquiry for the left-back in January. Then recently this publication reported that Amakhosi have put in an offer to test the waters. Pirates were also hot on the heels of the player in the previous two windows.

Buccaneers in the lead for Basadien?

Now according to The Citizen, Pirates may have leapfrogged Chiefs in the race of Basadien’s signature.

“It has been easy for Basadien because he’s keen on trying out a new experience at a bigger club but he has remained professional even though the club didn’t accept any offers for him this season, Chiefs interest was serious but there was no agreement reached between the two clubs and now it looks like Pirates are coming in strong for him. Don’t be surprised to see him join them when the season ends but you never know in football because things change very quickly and other clubs might come knocking as well.” Said a source to the same publication.

Who needs him more?
