Orlando Pirates are looking to add to their squad but also finalise the future’s of some current players in 2025.
Pirates will attack the January transfer window for some new players but those players will join a settled group.
Pirates looking to make big decisions on the squad
The current Pirates team has had a core group of players who have been there and won five trophies. These under the tutelage of current head coach Jose Riveiro. One of those players has been centre back Nkosinathi Sibisi. The strongman joined the Buccaneers from Golden Arrows ahead of the 2022/23 season.
During his time at Pirates, Sibisi has not always been a regular starting line up player for the side. Initially upon joining, however, he was one of the main centre backs. He was reportedly brought in as a replacement for ex-skipper Thulani Hlatshwayo. His place in the team was then affected by the amount of injuries he kept picking up.
But this season, Sibisi has capitalised from the injury of Olisa Ndah, after previously looking out of favour. In recent months he has worn the captains armband and proved a mainstay in the Pirates defence. Now according to Soccer-Laduma, the club are looking to extend his deal.
Sibisi deal to be extended?
“The Siya crew understands that the future of Orlando Pirates defender Nkosinathi Sibisi is set to be finalised sooner rather than later. As previously reported by the Siya crew, Sibisi has an option in his contract with the Soweto giants. His current deal expires at the end of the campaign and it’s understood that the Buccaneers have to indicate whether or not they are going to extend his deal in January. Pirates have a two-year option in Sibisi’s contract and they have an opportunity to take the first one in January to keep him at the club for at least another year. An announcement on the future of Sibisi is expected to be made in the coming weeks.” Wrote the publication.
