Kaizer Chiefs will be distressed to hear that Soweto arch-rivals Orlando Pirates want to steal their top January target.

Pirates want Velebayi

Kaizer Chiefs tried to sign Cape Town Spurs winger Asanele Velebayi all winter. Now, according to SoccerLaduma, Orlando Pirates want to rival their Soweto rivals for the highly-rated 21-year-old star.

“It’s believed that Pirates have worked on a strategy on how they can get Asanele (Velebayi). I am not sure whether they are working on it for this January or for the end of the season but they want to meet the demand of R10 million from Spurs and also add a player or two in exchange for Velebayi.
So that’s their strategy right now on how to get the highly-rated player,” the Siya source stated.

“They want to build a very strong squad with at least two or three players in each position so that the competition is high and that helps the team’s performance as well. They have identified a few players and their new analyst has identified Asanele (Velebayi) as one of them. So they may be willing to sacrifice some of their fringe players in exchange for Velebayi,” the second insider told the Siya crew.

Trio still out for Orlando Pirates

Injured trio Olisa Ndah, Zakhele Lepasa and Goodman Mosele all remain on the sidelines for Jose Riveiro’s side. However, seven players have returned to training. Next up for the Sea Robbers is a Betway Premiership clash with Stellenbosch on Saturday 30 November at 15:30.

Kaizer Chiefs want a new top maestro

Tanzanian international midfield star Feisal Salum is commanding a massive new pay rise with his current club Azam FC. Simba SC and Kaizer Chiefs are both lurking with considerable intent. According to The Citizen, Amakhosi have the funds to out-bid Azam and offer him improved terms. However, Chiefs face a tough stage of negotiations if they want to lure the midfielder away from his homeland. The attacking midfield maestro scored 19 goals last term.
