Orlando Pirates are looking to strengthen their attacking department next season.
With only Zakhele Lepasa, Evidence Makgopa and Tshegofatso Mabasa the only strikers in the team, the Buccaneers are reportedly looking to recruit at least two more strikers. According to Soccer Laduma, the Sea Robbers are looking to bring in former Jomo Cosmos striker Bright Ndlovu.
Orlando Pirates eyeing another striker for next season
“Yes. He is Bright Ndlovu. He is a former Jomo Cosmos striker. It’s believed that Pirates are currently monitoring him. He is very good and strong. He can also play as a midfielder. Apparently Pirates are looking at bringing him next season,” the source told the publication.
A second source told Soccer Laduma that Ndlovu was not the only striker Orlando Pirates enquired about.
“Bright Ndlovu is not the only striker Pirates are monitoring and have enquired about. They are looking at different, new strikers because they are set to release some strikers as well. And they are looking at their replacements,” the source added.
This week, it was reported that Orlando Pirates were monitoring Zimbabwean striker Junior Zindoga. According to Soccer Laduma, Zindoga has caught the eye of the Buccaneers and it remains to be seen if he can be a player they need upfront.
Orlando Pirates have Evidence Makgopa and Tshegofatso Mabasa upfront, but nether of the two strikers managed to bang 10 league goals this season. Mabasa was instrumental last season, winning the PSL Golden Boot, but this campaign, the goals have been hard to come by.
