Orlando Pirates keep title race hopes alive

Orlando Pirates kept their title race hopes alive with a 2-1 away win over Golden Arrows at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Tuesday.

The Buccaneers opened the scoring through Patrick Maswanganyi but Siyanda Mthanti equalised for Arrows in the 59th minute.

However, Tshegofatso Mabasa, coming from the bench, netted the winner to seal Pirates’ win.

All three goals were scored in the second half after an intense first half which sadly produced no goals.

As a result, Pirates are now nine points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns who are in action on Wednesday.

The Sea Robbers will hope for Sundowns to lose to Chippa United on the night to remain in the title race.

Should that not happen, then chances of Sundowns defending their crown are huge, and Pirates would still fight for that second place.
