Orlando Pirates goalie misses court appearance for child maintenance

Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi could soon find himself in trouble after skipping his court appearance.

The buccanneers shot-stopper was summoned to court after the mother of his children applied for child maintenance.

Earlier this year two of his baby mamas dragged him to court after revealing that he had ignored the responsibility of assisting them with providing financial assistance to his children.

After failing to appear at the Randburg Magistrates Court in January, the PSL player has now repeated this by failing to pitch at yet another court hearing.

Speaking to the news and entertainment publication TshisaLive, one of the mothers expressed disappointment in the soccer star, noting that Melusi has not taken these issues seriously.

“He is just going about his business. I’m disappointed with his antics but I have faith in our courts that this issue will be resolved in a responsible way.”

She added: “Melusi’s actions towards this matter are unfortunate. They demonstrate a complete disregard for the court and its directives. However, the matter is before the court and I am confident the outcome will be in the best interests of the child.”

While he refused to comment on the recent matter, in a previous interview with TshisaLive he explained that he was unable to meet the financial requirements made by the mother of one of his children.

“My baby mama wants R12,000 maintenance and I can’t afford it,” he was quoted saying at the time.
