Orlando Pirates are reportedly keeping tabs on Richards Bay striker Yanele Mbhuthuma.
Albeit young, the 23-year-old striker has plenty of PSL experience, amassing 74 appearances for the KwaZulu-Natal outfit.
The Buccaneers hope to redeem their summer window flop with several star signings in the offseason. Mbhuthuma is on the top of their list, but so is Cape Town City star Jaedin Rhodes – they could sign both.
Mbhuthuma rumours confirmed
Orlando Pirates lie twelve points behind Mamelodi Sundowns with three games in hand.
According to reports, Jose Riveiro’s side want more attacking options:
“Yes, the club is planning on bringing in another striker and they have already identified some strikers including [Yanele] Mbhuthuma from Richards Bay and that’s why they want to loan out Radiopane or release him,” another source explained.
“They want to have strikers who will compete among each other for next season and that’s the situation right now.”
Orlando Pirates want Rhodes
“He (Rhodes) has been one of their (Pirates’) targets for some time now,” SoccerLaduma reported.
“They have been monitoring him though there hasn’t been much happening. They were targeting him for the January transfer window period.
“Now that it didn’t happen they have more time to work on it and will see what happens in the next window. But they are interested in him. That I can tell you.”
Another PSL source close to SL confirmed the news, saying, “obviously, they (Pirates) will either loan some out or release some as well. But that’s the time they need to work on their squad and since it didn’t happen in January then they will work on it in the off season. Rhodes is one player on that list already.“
Should Orlando Pirates try get Rhodes?
