It is believed that Orlando Pirates are just one step closer to clinching an incredible double deal this transfer window.
Pirates are expected to beat arch rivals Kaizer Chiefs to the signing of Oswin Appollis and Thabang Matuludi.
Towards the end of 2024, Pirates were rigorously linked with the double signing of a Polokwane City duo. Of course the players in question are Oswin Appollis and Thabang Matuludi who were linked with arch rivals Kaizer Chiefs. It became apparent that the Buccaneers had not only stolen a march on Amakhosi but beaten them to the duo.
Pirates and Chiefs linked to Appollis and Matuludi
Last month, this publication reported that Pirates had struck an agreement on transfer terms with City. The Soweto giants would pay a fee of R15 million for the Appollis and Matuludi plus offer a player to head the other way. A follow up report then stated the possible delay in the deal was the player going the other direction. The Limpopo side had reportedly wanted Katlego Otladisa who in turn went to the other side of the province. The winger opted for a move to Sekhukhune United instead.
In the end, City are believed to have asked Pirates for Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo. It was expected that the deal will eventually happen. Now according to City coach Phuti Mohafe, the links of Appollis and Matuludi leaving for the Soweto giants, are just rumours.
City coach claims it’s just rumours
“You know with this issue of our players (Appollis and Matuludi) being linked with other people (Pirates), let it be their own agenda. But I think we shouldn’t be engaging with it anymore because it’s just rumours that are flying around and I’d rather not comment further about this but as you checked the players are here. So that tells you something else. Let the headlines fly but I don’t have to talk to them, these players, they know what is at stake for them.” Said Mohafe as per iDiski Times.
That seems to cast even more doubt over an already dragging transfer saga. Pirates fans, do you still have hope Appollis and Matuludi will join your club? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below.
