Orlando Pirates chase Bafana star, BAD news for their new signing

Orlando Pirates are considering signing a Bafana Bafana star, which could be bad news for one of their new signings.

Kwayiba is on the Orlando Pirates radar

Jose Riveiro’s MTN8 winners and Betway Premiership leaders will offer midfield duo Goodman Mosele and Siphelo Baloni as makeweights to sign Bafana Bafana and Chippa breakout star Sinoxolo Kwayiba. The 24-year-old recently featured off the bench for South Africa in Afcon qualifiers in a 5-0 win against Congo.

“Pirates are the ones who have moved faster in trying to acquire the services of Sinoxolo (Kwayiba). The technical team has been impressed so far with what they have seen from the player and that’s why they want to involve a player exchange to influence the deal. It could be money plus players involved. But what I can tell you is that Pirates are in the forefront to get him,” the insider told SoccerLaduma.

“As for Baloni he is currently at Chippa on loan from Pirates while Mosele is recovering from injury though the club has indicated that they would be willing to loan him out. So those are the players that Pirates believe they will use to persuade Chippa for the services of Sinoxolo (Kwayiba),” they added.

Is Gilberto’s place at risk?

New R11m signing, Angolan winger Gilberto, has had to bide his time for opportunities in the first team. Monnapule Saeng, Relebohile Mofokeng and breakout star Mohau Nkota are all ahead of him in the pecking order for wide attacking berths. If Kwayiba arrives, could this make his position even more at risk?

Fixtures for the Sea Robbers

Riveiro’s men have a trio of league encounters to prepare for in the next five weeks and they’ve also got two tasty Caf Champions League clashes on the horizon. The visit of African champions Al Ahly on 06 December is one to get in the diary. There’s also the prospect of a meeting with Bafana and former Cape Town City striker Khanyisa Mayo when Pirates go up North to face Belouizdad of Algeria.
