Controversial music executive and podcast host Nhlamulo “Nota” Baloyi faced arrest on 7 November during his court appearance at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court in South Africa.
The arrest occurred as he was ordered to serve a 60-day sentence for contempt of court, a charge tied to a past rape case involving actress Itumeleng Bokaba. This legal action stems from a 2022 ruling; however, Baloyi initially avoided jail time due to his placement in a mental institution.
The Allegations Against Nota
According to Bona, the contempt charge leading to the Nota’s arrest was originally linked to accusations Baloyi made against rapper Ntokozo “KO” Mdluli, whom he alleged was involved in the murder of Kiernan “AKA” Forbes.
These claims resulted in KO obtaining a court order against Baloyi, leading to his current imprisonment and adding to his ongoing legal troubles.
Since Baloyi’s arrest, social media has been abuzz with responses. Many users expressed surprise, while others commented on the timing, joking that Baloyi will spend the holiday season behind bars.
It has reignited public interest in his broader legal challenges and fueled ongoing discussions about his controversies.
Baloyi’s Legal Battle with Itumeleng Bokaba
Last month, Baloyi voluntarily turned himself in at the Randburg Police Station following Bokaba’s rape accusation filed at the Douglasdale Police Station.
Bokaba expressed frustration on social media, lamenting that details of her case were leaked and calling for a fair and private trial. She urged respect for the judicial process, asking people to avoid premature judgments.
Baloyi’s Social Media Statements
Since the allegations surfaced, Baloyi has been vocal on social media, firmly denying the charges. He described his arrest and subsequent charges as deeply hurtful but maintains faith in the justice system. Public reactions remain divided, with some users supporting Bokaba and others expressing solidarity with Baloyi.
A Tumultuous Public Life and Uncertain Future
Baloyi’s imprisonment is the latest development in his tumultuous public life. With ongoing cases and a 60-day sentence now in place, underscores his legal struggles and uncertain future. Social media remains engaged, with Baloyi’s situation a focal point of public debate that shows no sign of waning.
