Monday marked quite an emotional scene in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court, where Nhlamulo “Nota” Baloyi made his first appearance since handing himself over to the police on Friday.
The artist manager, known for his vibrant personality, found himself amid serious allegations after actress Itumeleng Bokaba filed a rape accusation against him. Just when he thought he had escaped to freedom, his emotions took a wild ride through a weekend behind bars.

A Taste of Freedom
After a weekend that felt as long as a year in a cramped cell, Nota was granted bail of R5,000 with the stipulation that he can’t contact his accuser.
Talk about a twist! As tears streamed down his face, he shared how relieved he felt to finally step outside. “We managed to plead my case for bail in the interests of justice,” he described, with a voice breaking from the weight of it all.
“I didn’t want to end up as a guest at Sun City for seven days,” he added, referencing those infamous detention hotels.

Nota couldn’t help but reflect on that nerve-wracking experience of waiting in line to find out if he’d get bail. “Some of those people didn’t make it out,” he recalled.

The clear reality of how fragile freedom can be was a heavy burden as he stood among others vying for the same chance. “Coming face-to-face with that was eye-opening,” he notes, losing his composure again.
Determined to clear his name, Nota seems ready for the long battle ahead, with his next court appearance scheduled for November 7.
