Actress and casting director, Nolwazi Shange has been granted bail following her brief appearance at the Brixton Magistrate’s Court in Johannesburg.

This comes after it has been alleged that former Scandal! actress was involved in financial misconduct of R700 000 involving Rhythm World, Masakhane Casting, and Make Your Art (Pty) Ltd.

The allegations against her include cyber forgery, uttering, fraud, and theft. The case stems from when Nolwazi was hired as a casting director for Queen Modjadji at Duma Ka Ndlovu’s Rhythm World. In her role, she was expected to recruit talent for various productions. However, the prosecution claims that instead of forwarding the payments made to her for these services, Nolwazi unlawfully appropriated the funds for personal gain.

According to Sunday World, the A Place Called Home star changed banking information and amounts, rerouting the money to an unidentified business that was purportedly connected to her, and failing to pay the agencies.

The fraud came to light when unpaid agencies confronted Rhythm World Productions, leading to an investigation. Former The River actress denied the allegations, claiming her contract with the production ended three months before the discovery.

The award-winning thespian has been granted bail of R5000, and her case has been postponed to September 26 while the National Prosecution Authority (NPA) investigates the matter.

According to Drum magazine, the NPA said: ” The accused was released on R5000 bail, and the case was postponed to 26 September 2025 for further investigations. The NPA is committed to ensuring justice is served and will provide updates as the case progresses.”
