Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Nkanyiso Zungu has owned up to his past mistakes and believes his move to Pretoria Callies is his chance to revive his career.
Zungu has signed with the Motsepe Foundation Championship side for the current season.
He spent the past season at Platinum City Rovers who were relegated back to the SAFA ABC Motsepe League.
The 28-year-old’s career has been marred with off-field issues which led to him leaving clubs such as Pirates and Richards Bay FC.
The former Stellenbosch FC player acknowledges that there have been issues that distracted his progress, but he is happy that a club like Callies has given him another lifeline.

“My move to Pretoria Callies means a lot. It’s a fresh start for me, to try to bring myself back to the person that I was before,” he told FARPost.
“As we all know, there are other bad things that happened to me. So, I feel like God has given me another chance to revive my career. I appreciate the chance that Pretoria Callies gave me.”
Zungu also shares the conversation he had with Callies chairman Moses Malada that changed everything.
“The question that the chairman asked me was what happened and I did tell him that there were just frustrations that I was not playing regularly,” he said.
“That led me to a situation where it was not good for me. But all in all, as much as there were frustrations that I was not playing there were things that affected me. So it had a lot of negative impact on my career.”
“So I told the chairman that the person I am now is not the Nkanyiso that was all over the papers or used to cause trouble,” explained Zungu.
“I am Nkanyiso, and I want to start afresh. So I asked him to give me a chance like a father and he accepted that. So now that he also gave me a chance, I have to grab it with both hands so that I don’t disappoint him.”
