Authorities in Limpopo arrested a Gauteng-based police officer on Wednesday, 19 March 2025, after catching him with nyaope drugs and a suspected stolen vehicle.
According to South African Police Services, officers intercepted the constable from the Silverton Detectives unit along the N1 South freeway outside Polokwane during an intelligence-driven operation.
The operation, conducted by the Provincial Anti-Smuggling Unit in collaboration with Tshimollo private security, led to his arrest.

POLICE OFFICER ARRESTED FOR DRUGS AND STOLEN VEHICLE
Authorities found him in possession of 2 095 sachets of nyaope, valued at R85 000. He was caught driving a Nissan NP200, suspected to be stolen, with Gauteng registration plates, further intensifying suspicions of criminal activity.
The vehicle was intercepted near Shell Ultra City, where authorities also confiscated the officer’s service pistol. The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, commended officers for swiftly arresting a 44-year-old police officer from Gauteng. The SAPS Westernburg authorities have detained the suspect.
