The Limpopo Department of Education has dispatched psychosocial services to the family of a Grade 4 learner who died after swallowing a pen lid.
The incident happened on Monday, 14 April at Moriting Primary School in the Capricorn South education district.
According to the Limpopo Department of Education, the tragic incident occurred when a learner accidentally swallowed a pen’s lid and reported to her teacher that he was struggling to breathe.

GRADE 4 LEARNER DIES AFTER SWALLOWING PEN LID
Immediate action was reportedly taken to rush the learner to the hospital, however, despite the best efforts of the medical staff, they were unable to save the minor. The Limpopo Department of Education has extended its sincerest condolences to the family and the school community.
