Orlando Pirates have reportedly invited Zambia international striker Andrew Phiri for a two-week trial.

The 23-year-old striker, who currently plays for Maestro United, has established himself as one of the most prolific talents in the league. His impressive performance has earned him recognition from the national team, leading to his selection for the Cosafa Cup squad. He has also previously excelled in the U17, U20, and U23 national teams, iDiski Times reported.

The highly rated striker has scored 33 league goals in two and a half seasons attracting him to Orlando Pirates. The Sea Robbers have struggled to get goals from their strikers this season and perhaps bringing a new forward might revive the likes of Evidence Makgopa and Tshegofatso.

Mabasa was instrumental last season, winning the PSL Golden Boot, but this campaign, the goals have been hard to come by. The 28-year-old has been linked with a move away from the club end of the season, which might be why the club is looking to bring in Phiri.

Orlando Pirates are monitoring at least two other strikers

This week, it was reported that Pirates were monitoring former Jomo Cosmos star Bright Ndlovu as well as Marumo Gallants striker Junior Zindoga.
