After taking home two awards for Best African Pop Song and Best R&B Song, songstress Naledi Aphiwe has expressed gratitude to her fans for helping her become the youngest Metro FM award winner.
The recent Metro FM Awards caused a buzz on social media, as viewers convened to debrief about everything they witnessed at this year’s edition of the coveted awards. It appears the event’s organisers have some things to consider, as the general feedback was not positive from these viewers, who complained about various issues, from the sound, to the fashion and the overall quality of the show.
Although the negative seemed to outshine the positive, the event had some highlights that are worth noting. Among these, young singer Naledi Aphiwe did not only take home two awards, for Best African Pop Song and Best R&B Song, but became the youngest winner the Metro FM Music Awards have seen. Considering the rich history of the awards, this accomplishment is no small accomplishment, as mzansi has seen a plethora of young artists taking the illustriuos stage.
Taking to her social media, the young songstress has expressed immense gratitude to her fans and team for her new found success. Furthermore, she expresses gratitude to the various media houses who have played a significant role in amplifying her reach and sharing her story and music with the rest of the country and the world.
“I’m overwhelmed with joy and gratitude, still in disbelief that I’ve won an award at the Metro FM Music Awards… This award is a testament to the power of perserverance, hard work and the universal language of music,” her statement reads.
