Naledi Aphiwe apologises to Gatsheni

Naledi Aphiwe apologises following the incident that happened at Mthandeni Summer Experience event.

The 18-year-old singer was booed off stage and attacked during performance at the event on Sunday.

It was reported that the crowd exuded anger at her for coming on stage to perform after Gatsheni was called out to perform.

Naledi whose voice featured on Chris Brown’s 2024 album released an official statement where she apologised to all parties offended.

“Firstly, I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to Mthandeni and his incredible team for providing me with the platform to perform and connect with his supporters. I understand the importance of the opportunity and I truly appreciate the support that has been extended to me,” she wrote.

“I also want to offer a heartfelt apology to Gatsheni and his team. It was never my intention to cause any disruption or disrespect, especially to such a respected and established artist in the Maskandi community.

“I acknowledge that my actions were inconsiderate and I deeply regret the way I conducted myself on stage. I respect the values of this community, and I will take this time to reflect on my actions and ensure that I grow as an artist and individual moving forward.

Naledi said she takes full responsibility and will focus on getting better.

“I understand that the path to success is not just about talent, but also about maturity, respect, and collaboration. I take full responsibility for my actions, and I am committed to working on myself during this period. I recognize that this is a time for growth, and I will be focusing on honing my craft and building a stronger, more professional approach to my music and career.”

“Kuba Landeli Bami, I ask for your understanding and support as I continue on this journey. I know I have room to improve, and I promise to use this experience as a stepping stone to becoming a better artist and person. Once again, I offer my sincere apologies to everyone affected by my actions, and Ngiabonga Kakhulu for your continued support.”
