Nasreddine Nabi was happy with how his side performed despite a 1-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday afternoon.

Lucas Ribeiro scored the only goal of the match to give Masandawana another win over Amakhosi at the Lucas Moripa Stadium.

“It’s a game that we will leave with some regrets,” Nabi said after Sundowns’ defeat.

“We feel that we have done enough to create problems for our opponents, we created opportunities. We had more control in the second half but it’s football, at the end you have to score. I deserve we deserved a tie with the performance we displayed,” he said.

“We know that we have lost the points today and we need to go back and push ourselves for the next game.”

Nabi says Chiefs deserved a draw against Sundowns

“What we need to take from this game is the performance and the improvement of the players during the season. We know the standing on the log doesn’t really reflect our performance, but the standing is a temporary thing and we know we are going to finish the season higher,” he said.

Masandawana increase their lead to 18 points over rivals Orlando Pirates. Chiefs on the other hand, remain eight on the log after suffering their ninth defeat of the season.

Nabi has lost three times to Sundowns this season but could get their revenge in the Nedbank Cup. Both teams have reached the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals but will not be facing each other.
