Tebatso Mashishi, widely known for his role in the beloved soap opera Muvhango, has made an emotional pledge to honour the memory of his late friend, Sibusiso Khwinana.

Sibusiso was robbed and stabbed to death outside the movie theatre complex. In a conversation with Daily Sun, Tebatso opened up about the lasting effect the loss had on him and its impact on his album.

“The loss of Sibusiso Khwinana deeply influenced my first album. It’s called A Lot Happened, where I delve into my mental health struggles, grief, and how I had to go through therapy to process it all. I felt lost for a long time and the feelings are reflected in the album,” he said.

Reflecting on their time working together, Tebatso shared with the publication fond memories of Sibusiso while filming Matwetwe and how those experiences are intricately linked to his music.

“Sibusiso and I shared so many memories on set while shooting Matwetwe. We grew up together in the arts, starting out in theatre. Those memories are woven into the fabric of my first album.”

According to IOL, Tanzanian national Julies Lucas, the man who killed Sibusiso, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Pretoria High Court.
