Controversial blogger Musa Khawula will remain behind bars after the Randburg Magistrate’s Court postponed his case again on Wednesday.
The infamous 33-year-old blogger is facing a string of charges, from hate speech to breaking the Cyber Crimes Act of 2020 and committing crimen injuria.
CONTROVERSIAL BLOGGER MUSA KHAWULA REMAINS BEHIND BARS
During his recent court sitting, Musa Khawula’s legal team raised concerns about his missing cellphone, which was confiscated.
According to Musa Khawula’s legal representative, Ofentse Nkwang, they must obtain information for his defence case.
‘We would like to access Musa Khawula’s phone to obtain important information about his defence,’ said Nkgwang.
However his case was rescheduled for trial on 9 and 10 April. Musa Khawula will remain in custody until his next court sitting.
The blogger also pulled another court stunt that has thrust him into top trends. Like his last court sitting, he blew kisses at the media after being asked to stand down.
His recent court appearance was about the alleged damning tweets he made about businessman Ze Nxumalo in October 2024.
His arrest came after he failed to appear in court and remove defamatory X posts about former Miss South Africa Tamaryn Green and her businessman husband, Ze Nxumalo.
Last year, Musa Khawula pulled a shocker when he alleged that Ze had been cheating on his pregnant wife.
ATTEMPTED MURDER AND RECKLESS DRIVING CASE
Surprisingly, this was his second court appearance this week, after he appeared before the Fochville Magistrate’s Court for a different case.
He is facing a string of charges in this matter, which include attempted murder, reckless driving, and neglecting to call for help or notify police of an accident.
These allegations are linked to a vehicle accident near Mponeng Mine in February 2021.
Rumour Mill has it that Musa Khawula was involved in a hit-and-run incident. After the incident, he allegedly left the injured victim on the deserted road, only to be assisted by another driver.
MAKING HEADLINES
Earlier this month, he made headlines when he shared a series of tweets while behind bars, leaving many wondering if he had access to a phone while in jail.
Against the incident, the Correctional Services revealed they were investigating if he was posting while behind bars.
“I have asked around. We will have to check where the person is detained and whether he has access to a cellphone,” said Correctional Services Spokesman Singabakho Nxumalo.
