Muhsin Ertugral was dismissed as the head coach of Cape Town City on Monday. His termination came after a series of disappointing results, as the Cityzens are currently on a 10-match winless streak.

“After technical discussions, the club and Muhsin Ertugral have agreed mutually to part ways,” Cape Town City stated in an announcement

“The decision comes as a collective in the best interest of the club as we look to end the 24/25 season as strong as possible.

“We thank Muhsin for his professional and earnest contribution,”

The 65-year-old Turk was hired on a temporary basis, with the intention of making him the club’s technical director at the end of the season. However, these plans have now been completely derailed as Muhsin Ertugral has left the club entirely.

After the dismissal, the veteran coach has since spoken to express his gratitude at the club.

Muhsin Ertugral Pens Sentimental Letter to Cape Town City

The former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates coach took to social media to communicate with the Cityzens supporters.

“Professional Football can give you everything, then takes more than you ever expected,” Ertugral expressed.

“The cheers fade, the spotlight moves on, but the pain stays. Broken bodies, blurred memories, and the weight what the game never shows.

“Those are the truths as players carry long after the final whistle. The hardest hits don’t always come on the field.

“It’s the people you trust who turn away when the lights go out.” He stated

Cape Town City will now attempt to resurrect what looks like a dying campaign.

Can Cape Town City Make the Top 8?

The Cityzens are languishing in 13th place in the Betway Premiership table following a disappointing run of results. They suffered a 1-0 defeat at home against Marumo Gallants in their most recent outing, last Saturday.

They are six points behind Kaizer Chiefs, who are eighth in the league table. Cape Town City have seven matches to secure a top-eight finish.

If they fail to achieve this, it will mark the first time in their history that they end the season outside the top 8. Do the Cityzens have what it takes to qualify for the MTN 8 next season?
