Staying true to fashion, DSTV channel 157, Moja Love, has revealed that an upcoming show dedicated to tackling South Africa’s rampant immigration issue, hosted by Zandile Dabula, is in the works.

Moja Love is a DSTV channel whose content panders to and resonates deeply with South Africa’s black, middle and lower classes. They have been at the receiving end of some backlash from their watchers, who revealed that with the platform they have acquired, they have a responsibility to introduce content that builds and empowers the black community, rather than the problematic and controversial route they have opted to take.

The issue of illegal immigration is not one that is new to South Africa, as we have seen unfortunate incidents such as the xenophobic attacks in 2008 and 2015, which rose due to locals expressing frustration at the growing rate of foreigners making their way into the country, thus causing scarcity of jobs and resources.

Furthermore, we have seen movements such as ‘Operation Dudula’, founded by Nhlanhla ‘Lux’ Dlamini, which turned into a political party and has a primary objective of expelling as many illegal immigrants within the country as possible.

Recently, Moja Love revealed that they have joined forces with ‘Operation Dudula’s’ current president, Zandile Dabula, in an upcoming show titled X-Deport, which will follow a similar format and investigative style to their popular show X-Repo and Sizokthola.

With Zandile as the host, the show is set to tackle the issue of illegal immigrants who have managed to settle down and establish businesses in the country. According to the trailer, Zandile will be going around the country, seeking documentation from foreign business owners from across the world, including Asia and a plethora of African countries.

Internet users have commended Moja Love for their effort at cleaning up the country and using their platform to build the nation, as per their audience’s prior requests. These users believe that a show of this nature is a step in the right direction towards bettering South Africa, which has been plagued with illegal immigrants.

However, others have expressed concern and wonder what level of protection Zandile will be afforded, as this show is likely to ruffle the feathers of some higher-ups who benefit from the presence of these immigrants. They cite Xolani Maphanga, the presenter of Sizok’thola, a Moja Love show dedicated to tackling the issue of drug abuse in black communities, as he is currently facing an ongoing criminal case with charges of attempted murder and trespassing, which stems from an incident that occurred during the filming of the popular TV show.
