Minnie Dlamini stole the show on Saturday 28 October 2023 as she hosted the first-ever Miss World South Africa pageant.

The show-stopping finale took place at the State Theatre in Pretoria where Dr Claude Mashego was crowned as this year’s Miss World SA. She now earns the right to represent South Africa at the global Miss World pageant. For many South Africans, however, it was the host who dazzled with her range of designer outfits. 

Minnie Dlamini wears Gert-Johan Coetzee and more local designers

KZN-born Minnie Dlamini rarely ever disappoints on the big occasion and that was the case once again at the Miss World SA finale.

Those who follow her on Instagram will have noticed that Minnie Dlamini had been determined to show her patriotism through her fashion at the Miss World SA finale and she kept her word. 

She began the night wearing a daring red Gert-Johan Coetzee on the red carpet of the pageantry. She was joined by fellow red carpet hosts, Yaya Mavundla, Lunga Shabalala and Zarief Minty.

The 33-year-old then teased her next outfit, a gorgeous traditional number worked on by South African designer Palesa Mokubung.

A Bok-inspired final look

Perhaps the most eye-catching look of them all came when she rocked her second Gert-Johan Coetzee outfit of the night. The Miss World SA finale took place just before the Springboks went on to win the Rugby World Cup finals against New Zealand in France.

Although Minnie Dlamini spent the evening working at the pageant, she showed the Bokke support the one way she could best – with a showstopping Boks-inspired dress. 

Fans are already eager to see what the multi-skilled powerhouse will be wearing to next year’s Miss World SA, after she signed a two-year agreement to host the pageant in 2023 and 2024. If this year was anything to go by, she will be raising the bar again.
