Gayton congratulates the Springboks
South Africa’s rugby team won New Zealand, 31-27 at Ellis Park on Saturday.
The All Blacks led for almost the entire match and by 10 points going into the last quarter, but the Springboks reeled off an incredible come-from-behind victory.
The Springbok’s coach, Rassie Erasmus praised both teams for delivering their best.
“I feel proud. New Zealand can feel sad because it was such a great game. They really controlled it for most of the game. We snuck in at the end but that shows character against a team like New Zealand. Well done to them, and well done to our guys as well,” said Erasmus.
Taking to Twitter, the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture minister, Gayton McKenzi expressed sincere gratitude to Springbok for the victory.
“On behalf of our Government of National Unity, on behalf of every Patriotic South African, on behalf of the rugby loving people around the world, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Madiba is smiling, thank you @Springboks, you are what we should all become,” Gayton wrote.
