The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle reportedly returned to social media to show the positive impact that the platform can create.

The Instagram account, which only had it’s first post on 1 January, gained about 70 000 followers in the first 20 hours of the post. Currently, the account already has 1.1 million followers. A spokesperson for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle told NBC News that the video was filmed near the couple’s home in Montecito , California.

In 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan quit their roles as senior working members of the royal family and moved to California to start a new life with their family. The pair have two children together – Prince Archie (5) and Princess Lilibet (3).

The spokesperson stated that Meghan intends to use the new account to share updates on her work and personal life. Adding, that the Duchess hopes she can “lead by example to show the positive impact that social media can create”.

The spokesperson went on to say that Meghan feels confident that by returning to Instagram, she can amplify the progress made so far and lead by example.

“While there is still work to be done, she feels confident that by returning to Instagram, she can amplify the progress made so far and lead by example in demonstrating the potential for social media to bring joy and positive connection,” said the spokesperson according to Sky News.
