- The suspension of Mbuyiseni Ndlozi paves the way for party loyalists to be elected to the EFF top leadership positions.
- Malema bans party members from talking about Dr Ndlozi
The absence of Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi from the EFF’s elective conference is threatening to be the main subject dominating the four day conference.
Even after delivering an opening speech that lasted over three hours, EFF leader Julius Malema found himself fielding questions about the absence of the “People’s Bae”.
On Saturday, an irritated Malema told a media briefing at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg that no EFF leader will respond to questions about Ndlozi.
“We are not going to reduce this organisation to some individual, we are dealing with political issues and not egoism of some individual who thinks is bigger than the organisation,” he said.
Ndlozi was suspended after it was discovered that he knew about former deputy president Floyd Shivambu’s plan to defect to the MK Party but failed to inform the party leaders.
In recent months post May elections EFF leaders have been moving to the MK and Ndlozi was also one of those invited.
He turned down the offer and went on to renew his EFF membership.
Despite this Malema and his loyalists think Ndlozi is destined to join the MK party.
“We are not responsible for Ndlozi, 90 % of the people who were expected to be here are here. That’s what matters!
“Whoever is not here was not expected to be here.”
The party is expected to elect new leaders with 2,243 delegates who qualified to participate in the election process.
Malema is expected to be elected for a third term as party leader.
