Matthew Lani opens up about his fall

Matthew Lani recently shared his journey from financial stability to hardship, revealing personal and controversial details.

In an interview on the Engineer Your Life Podcast, the well-known TikToker admitted to fabricating his identity as a doctor, explaining that the lure of fame initially prevented him from telling the truth.

This deception, however, ultimately led to his downfall, forcing him to sell his properties to cover legal expenses.

Lani also opened up about his HIV diagnosis, disclosing that his former partner of five years had intentionally infected him following accusations of infidelity.

“He confessed that he deliberately infected me,” Lani stated.

Following private prosecution and a civil case, his ex-partner compensated him with nearly R1 million.

He further elaborated on his social media persona, revealing that his well-known identity was entirely fabricated.

“I wrote a fake name, fake surname, and some random ID number. I made up a signature and was coerced into writing the confession,” he admitted.

Lani explained that his Dr. Matthew persona was created to help “humanize and simplify” HIV education.
