Monnapule Saleng’s situation at Orlando Pirates took another turn in the previous week adding more confusion about his future.
The situation seemed to take two twists in fact one positive and one negative between Saleng and Pirates.
Saleng and Pirates situation confusing
Pirates had a big week, playing two important games in both the Betway Premiership and CAF Champions League. The first of those being a loss to Cape Town City in Cape Town, which was only their second of the season. The second was an impressive 2-1 win over C.R. Belouizdad of Algeria at the Orlando stadium. But one noticeable feature of both games was the absence of Saleng.
What makes the situation even more confusing was the fact that Saleng was pictured training before the City game. He was then left out of the Pirates matchday squad for the game. Then on the eve of the game against Belouizdad, he was not spotted at training. He then, subsequently didn’t make the matchday squad. This whole saga has seen the club’s fans show concern over his future.
Player still has a future at the club
Now according to a source speaking to Soccer-Laduma, Saleng is still very much still in the plans of Pirates!
“Let’s respect the club (Pirates) when they say it’s a sensitive topic but what I can tell you is that there are no plans to release the player (Saleng). He is in the plans, and he performs to the best of his ability like all the other players when he is available to play. Whatever the situation is, let’s hope it will get sorted for the boy to continue giving his best for the team,” said a source described to be close to the club.
