Mamelodi Sundowns will play Kaizer Chiefs in the semi-final of the Nedbank Cup next month.

This came after Jayden Adams scored a late extra-time winner to send the Brazilians to another Nedbank Cup semi-final. Just as it looked like Sekhukhune United had done enough to hold Downs to a shootout, Masandawana produced one last attack, which led to a goal.

Thapelo Morena’s initial shot hit the post and fell to Adams, who made no mistake in scoring in the 119th minute.

Kaizer Chiefs and Sundowns highlight Nedbank Cup semi-final

The Brazilians will now face their rivals Kaizer Chiefs, in the semi-final of the competition. The two teams have already met three times this season, with Masandawana winning all the encounters. Their first meeting was in the Betway Premiership, which saw the Sundowns narrowly win 2-1 before facing off again in the Carling Knockout Cup which went 4-0 in favour of the Brazilians.

In their recent meeting, Masandawana claimed a 1-0 win in Atteridgeville to extend their lead in the Betway Premiership. Next month, Chiefs and Sundowns will meet for the final time this season as they eye the Nedbank Cup.

Titleholders Orlando Pirates will face Marumo Gallants in the second semi-final.

Can Amakhosi finally beat Sundowns this season, or will Migual Cardoso dominate the fixture yet again?
