Mamelodi Sundowns legend receives R2.6m BMW gift

Former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Peter Ndlovu is making headlines after he received a new car worth R2.6 million as a present from Zimbabwean business tycoon Sir Wicknell.

Peter Ndlovu is the latest prominent Zimbabwean figure to receive a good gesture from a businessman who has been on a spending spree since 2023.

Back home, Peter Ndlovu is dubbed as one of the most celebrated footballers ever to come from Zimbabwe.

For his immense contribution to Zimbabwean football, the former Mamelodi Sundowns was gifted a new 2024 BMW with a price tag of R2.6 million.

The businessman has been gifting a host of celebrated figures across all verticals, from the music industry to the arts.

Wicknell Chivayo, who lives lavishly and is unapologetic about it, revealed his generous gesture to Peter Ndlovu through social media with a glowing tribute.

Taking to his social media, Chivayo posted, “THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME…Zimbabwe’s football history is INCOMPLETE without mentioning one player who pushed boundaries and showed the world that when talent meets hard work, MAGIC happens.”

The businessman added, “A quick 2.6 million rand /144 thousand USD well spent wholeheartedly on this LEGEND…

“This is a SMALL token of my appreciation for your OUTSTANDING contribution to the game of football and for INSPIRING generations of Zimbabwean soccer fans.”

CAREER

The Bulawayo-born started his senior career with Highlanders in Zimbabwe in 1988.

However, in 1991, Peter Ndlovu went down in the history books of African football as he became the first African star to sign for an English Premier League side after joining Coventry.

His flair and command of the game saw him joining a string of European clubs. Peter Ndlovu joined Birmingham City in 1997 before switching the floor to Sheffield United in 2001.

After 135 appearances and 25 goals for Sheffield United, Peter Ndlovu joined Mamelodi Sundowns in 2004.

The former star made 81 league appearances for Sundowns, netting 20 goals. After Mamelodi Sundowns, he starred for several clubs, including Thanda Royal Zulu, before hanging the boots.

However, the Zimbabwean legend made 81 appearances for the club and netted over 30 goals for the Warriors.
