Mamelodi Sundowns have landed another gem, beating six other Betway Premiership club’s for the talented winger’s signature. Masandawana won the race to sign the in-demand 2024 Engen Champ of Champs star Sechaba Gaseitsiwe.

A fortnight ago, this publication reported that the teenage sensation attracted interest from several PSL clubs. This follows his impressive performances at this year’s Engen competition where he was named the Forward of the Tournament.

The 17-year-old joins Bafana Ba Style from the Northern Cape amateur side Galeshewe Stars, where made a name for himself.

For now, Gaseitsiwe will be playing for the Chloorkop-based outfit’s DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] side. The talented winger will be hoping to impress Masandawana’s technical and earn his promotion to the first team.

The gifted young talent is recognised for his cunning moves to outsmart rivals. He also has exceptional passing abilities and shines in executing set pieces.

Having witnessed what the youngster is capable of at the Engen tournament, seven Betway Premiership clubs couldn’t sleep on Gaseitsiwe’s talent, as they quickly inquired about his services.

WHO DID MAMELODI SUNDOWNS BEAT TO SIGN SECHABA GASEITSIWE?

The other six PSL teams that Sundowns beat to secure Gaseitsiwe’s signature include Cape Town City FC, Sekhukhune United, Kaizer Chiefs, TS Galaxy, Orlando Pirates, and Stellenbosch FC, all of whom had expressed interest in the emerging teenage sensation.

In an interview with FARPost, Nduvho Munyai of P Management praised his former team, Galeshewe Stars, for its contribution to developing Gaseitsiwe’s football abilities.

“The boy is a very special talent, one of the top players in his age group. He is a raw talent that comes from the Northern Cape. Another thing is that he has been in a very good set-up in Galeshewe Stars,” said Munyai.

As things stand, Sundowns’ DDC side is placed third on the table with 22 points after 10 games. The side is just one point behind log leaders Stellenbosch FC, who are also the defending champions.
