Despite several political party setbacks in recent months, EFF leader Julius Malema is celebrating a personal achievement – his son Ratanang’s impressive Matric pass.
The teen – the firstborn son – attended the affluent Johannesburg school, St David’s Marist Inanda.
On Monday, 13 January, the IEB results – which govern the private school sector – were released. The rest will be publicly released on Tuesday.
MALEMA CELEBRATES SON’S MATRIC PASS
On his Instagram Story, Malema gave his son Ratanang a special shout-out.
He posted: “Look at this excellent Bachelor’s Degree [Matric pass]. We are right in the thick of things.”
Overcome with joy, he added: “We are not sleeping tonight. Congratulations, my boy.”
Ratanang is the firsborn son of Malema and his former partner Maropeng Ramohlale. The outspoken politician has two other sons, Kopano and Munzhedzi, with his wife, Mantao.
Like his father, Ratanang has taken up leadership roles in his school, where he was named one of the warcry leaders.
‘WELL BEHAVED AND RESPECTED’
Julius Malema has a special bond with his firstborn, who recently turned 18 years old.
In a birthday tribute, Malema said of the teen: “I’m so glad to have fulfilled my promise to the departed to watch over you until you can stand on your own. You’ve always been such a well-behaved and respectful kid, and I know that won’t change.
Although he did not reveal what Ratanang would pursue after his Matric year, he offered some words of wisdom.
He continued: “Remember, trust nobody, but don’t let anyone drag you down. Stay true to yourself! Whenever I felt like giving up, I looked at you and my grandmother and found the strength to keep going.
“You’re my inspiration, along with your brothers. Keep up the discipline and respect, and always greet everyone in the room regardless of age or social standing”.
