Fresh from becoming R6.8m richer, Magesi FC have drawn up a transfer wishlist that takes them to Kaizer Chiefs.
Magesi are still intent on adding quality to help them stay in the league, while Chiefs may look offload players.
Chiefs have long transfer list
At the beginning of the season Chiefs had a long list of players that were deemed surplus to requirements. This came after a terrible season which saw the club finish in their lowest league position ever. New coach Nasreddine Nabi came in with fresh ideas and big demands on the squad and management. Those saw some regulars from the season not enjoying the same status under him.
He was not shy to extend that to some marquee signings from the previous seasons. The likes of Given Msimango, Zitha Kwinika and Ashley du Preez were all relegated to the bench. Players like Thathoyoane Dithlokwe and Sibongiseni Mthethwa out of favour altogether at Chiefs. While Msimango, du Preez and Mthethwa have since got themselves back in favour, the same can’t be said of others.
Kwinika and Dithlokwe continue to be on the peripheries and could be primed for a move away from Chiefs. Magesi are thought to be interested in spending on one or both of those players according to assistant coach Papi Zothwane.
Dithlokwe interest confirmed by Magesi?
“Yes, the chairman can have his financial muscle, but obviously, we work according to the budget of the team, so he’s the one who will direct us,”. But knowing this league, it is more tougher in the second round than firrst the round, you want players who are hungry. Sometimes you have players who played the Nrst round well and come the second round, maybe he has signed a pre-contract [elsewhere], you can see he’s no longer the same. So, those are the things you check. Zothwane said on SoccerBeat YouTube Channel via KickOff.com.
Zothwane then named Dithlokwe as a possible Magesi target from Chiefs.
“Two, we need to see players at [teams like] Chiefs loaning out players, the likes of Ditlhokwe, you can mention players, that this one can help us, that one can help us. There’s a lot of teams looking for their players to get game time. As Magesi, we’re willing, because when they come [on loan], they would want to show their teams that they are valuable,” said Zothwane.
Chiefs fans, should Dithlokwe go on loan or be sold permanently to Magesi? Or should he continue to fight for his place at the club? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below.
