Maximum points will be high on the agenda in a clash between two sides that have already clinched silverware in the ongoing season.
Form guide
Outside their remarkable cup run, Magesi have had a harsh introduction to top-flight football.
They head into their 10th league fixture stationed at the bottom of the standings. This is after picking up six points throughout their campaign.
Only two of those have come in their five most recent fixtures, courtesy of draws against Cape Town City and Kaizer Chiefs.
Things have gone downhill since the back-to-back stalemates, as they now head into the game against Orlando Pirates looking to halt a three-match losing streak.
It promises to be no easy task as they now face off against a Bucs side fresh from securing a record 8-1 victory earlier in the week.
That impressive result ensured that the Soweto giants were within touching distance of the table-topping Mamelodi Sundowns.
It was also a return to winning ways after going down to Stellenbosch FC in their previous league outing.
With 12 points earned in their last five matches, where they have netted 13 goals, the Buccaneers will be gunning for another three points as they look to maintain their spot near the summit.
Team news
The Buccaneers could welcome striker Evidence Makgopa back to the match-day squad after he sat out the game against Marumo Gallants.
His presence is a welcome boost with Tshegofatso Mabasa unavailable for the fixture due to suspension.
The home side has meanwhile experienced a major change in the dugout, with head coach Clinton Larsen recently vacating his post.
He has been replaced by his assistant Papi Zothwane, who will take over on an interim basis.
Key players
Relebohile Mofokeng (Orlando Pirates): The 20-year-old’s exceptional creativity and composure up front has given Pirates an extra dimension on attack. With the ability to punch holes through the most resilient of defences, Mofokeng is fresh off another commanding display where he added two more assists to his tally.
Wonderboy Makhubu (Magesi): The hardworking centre-forward has been a key contributor up front for Magesi, creating and finishing off chances. With his side struggling in front of goal, he has chipped in with two of their four league goals as well as an assist to underline his importance to the cause.
Head-to-head
This will be a historic first-ever league meeting between Orlando Pirates and Magesi.
They have however crossed paths in cup football where the Limpopo outfit upset the Buccaneers in their backyard, ending their Carling Knockout Cup campaign on the first hurdle.
TV coverage
The match is set to kick off at 15:30, with live coverage available on SuperSport PSL.
