There are only a few Formula 1 athletes who can legitimately say they have had a better career than British racing driver Lewis Hamilton.

After announcing his unexpected move from Mercedes to Ferrari, Lewis will honour his journey at Mercedes with a unique initiative that involves 150 lucky supporters.

Before signing with Mercedes, Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton enjoyed a 15-year-long career with F1 heavyweights McLaren where he collected a magnitude of accolades, including being the youngest holder of the Formula One World Championship title, which he achieved in his rookie year.

Lewis also involuntary became a champion of representation and inclusion when he became the first black race-care driver to compete in Formula in his debut at the 2007 Australian Grand Prix.

During his tenure at Mercedes, Lewis continued on his dominant path and snatched six Formula One World Drivers’ Championship titles along the way.

As he enters the dawn of his Mercedes era, he leaves as objectively the most successful driver in Formula 1 history when considering race wins, World Championship and popularity as well. It is important to note that Lewis does share the record for the most World DriversChampionships with German race legend Micheal Schumacher as they both sit at seven each.

Lewis currently has a chance to have one up on Michael in his final showing with Mercedes.

Before his departure, he and his team at Mercedes decided that as a token of appreciation, they would bring forward an initiative unlike any other, that would allow Lewis to have some of his biggest supporters with him in the form of signatures signed onto his car. Taking to his social media, he revealed to his fans and supporters that they would get a chance to sign up to be one of the 150 signatures that will be displayed on Lewis’ final race car in Abu Dhabi.

“TeamLH, you’ve always been here. Through all the ups and downs, every step of the way. As we get ready to mark the end of one chapter in Abu Dhabi, and the start of another, I can’t think of anything better than carrying as many of your names as possible on my car in the final race of the season,” he says.

Unsurprisingly, this announcement has garnered much attention, as Lewis’ fans share this bittersweet moment with him as they rush to enter their names in the draw to being part of this wholesome initiative.

Some of these users have reaffirmed Lewis and revealed that they will be jumping ship to Ferrari with Lewis, as their loyalties will always lie with him.
