During his tenure, Riveiro has helped Pirates win five trophies. Three MTN8 titles in a row as well as back to back Nedbank Cup titles. Furthermore, Beyond that, he led the Buccaneers into a second place in the Betway Premiership. Beyond local boarders, he ensured qualification for the side, into the group stages of the CAF Champions League. After doing so for the first time since 2018, they finished top of their group and unbeaten.

Mokwena opens up on potential Buccaneers return

“I don’t know, I’ve just arrived back in the country… To be honest I don’t know (about Pirates). Of course I would consider it. It’s a big club and it’s still got people who are very close to me and to my heart. I’m very, very fond of Doctor Khoza, very fond and he will always have a special place in my heart. I’ve been fortunate enough that as a coach I’ve learnt a lot from three of the best football leaders on the continent – Dr. Khoza number one, for sure, general knowledge, geography, football, humanity, everything, religion…” said Mokwena on Soccer Africa.  Watch the clip below.
