Durban: NFP President Ivan Rowan Barnes is removing a key player in the KZN Government of Provincial Unity, MEC Mbali Shinga. This comes after he wrote a letter on Thursday night, informing her about the decision taken by the National Executive Committee of the NFP to remove her. The email was titled “Notice of your Removal as a member of the KZN legislature”. Barnes wants to replace Shinga at the KZN legislature and also take the Social Development ministry that is under Shinga. Shinga voted with the IFP, ANC and DA to form the KZN coalition government.
eThekwini: The Democratic Alliance in eThekwini is taking action against the City of eThekwini following the displacement of flood victims and the overall collapse in the city. The party accused City Manager Musa Mbhele, alongside the political leadership, of consistently failing to show accountability, transparency and effective governance. “Their inability to lead has plunged the municipality into chaos and decay,” said Caucus leader Thabani Mthethwa.
Harding: The kwaMachi traditional leadership will this weekend hold a social cohesion and cultural revival ceremony under the Sibonda Traditional Council in Harding, KZN South Coast. This event is a precursor to Umkhosi Womhlanga and aims to educate the next generation of boys and maidens about culture and heritage while emphasising the crucial fight against gender-based violence and other social ills.
