South African footballers Khanyisa Mayo and Shandre Campbell enjoyed successful weekends on foreign soil, finding the back of the net for their respective clubs.
Mayo’s CR Belouizdad defeated Aso Chief 2-0 in the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle at Stade du 5 Juillet. On the other hand, Club NXT, where Campbell plays, came from a goal behind and defeated Francs Borains 2-1 in the Challenger Pro League away from home.
Mayo scored the second goal of the match in the 53rd minute after Mahious opened the scoring in stoppage time of the first half through a penalty.
The goal was Khanyisa Mayo’s second for the club in 10 matches in all competitions. Last time out in the CAF Champions League group opener against Orlando Pirates, the 26-year-old was on target as they suffered a 2-1 victory at home.
Meanwhile, Campbell came in as a substitute in the 70th minute and found the back of the net in the 82nd minute. The 19-year-old has now scored five goals in seven league matches.
RULANI MOKWENA AND CASSIUS MAILULA’S WYDAD AC SECURE VICTORY
Coach Rulani Mokwena and attacker Cassius Mailula’s Wydad AC won 1-0 on Friday night against Olympic Safi 1-0 in the Botola Pro League at home. Mailula played 61 minutes and had his goal disallowed by VAR.
Bafana Bafana attacker Percy Tau was in action on Sunday afternoon as his side Al Ahly played out to a 0-0 draw against National Bank away from home in the league. Tau started the match and was substituted in the 71st minute.
Winger Elias Mokwana featured for Esperance on Sunday afternoon in the league as they defeated JS Omrane 2-0 at home. The talented attacker was named in the starting line-up and was subbed off in the 84th minute.
Midfielder Thabo Cele missed out as his side Fakel Voronezh shared spoils with Dynamo Makhachkala after a 0-0 draw on Sunday in the league on the road. This was the second consecutive time the 27-year-old didn’t feature for his side. Last week, Cele was not available in a 1-1 draw against Dynamo Moscow.
Attacker Gift Links was in action as his side, Aarhus Gymnastikforening, drew 1-1 on Sunday evening in the league against Silkeborg IF away from home. Links started the match and came off in the 86th minute.
