While mzansi learned about the tragic news of music legend Winnie Khumalo’s death, controversial musician Kelly Khumalo has called an eNCA reporter Shahan Ramkissoon out for getting her mixed up with the late singer.

A grim mood arose across the country as it brought about the news of Winnie Khumalo’s passing. While the rest of the country began to make peace with the news, Kelly Khumalo had differing plans on her agenda: to call out eNCA reporter Shahan Rankisoon for erroneously announcing her own death, as opposed to Winnie Khumalo’s.

Taking to her Instagram, the controversial singer revealed that she did not take the matter lightly as it is ignorant and disrespectful not only to herself but also to those who love her and hold her dearly to their hearts.

Coming to his own defence, Shahan responded and revealed that he was aware of the error and rectified it a few minutes later on air. Furthermore, the reporter provided evidence of him apologising for the error and acknowledging it as well.

This common error has had a mixed reaction on the internet as some users believe that this was not a mere error but an attempt to further drag Kelly’s name in the mud as she has gained a significant amount of ‘haters’ or resistance due to her alleged involvement in the Senzo Meyiwa murder case, and other unfortunate circumstances in her previous relationships. Other users on the other hand believe that it was merely a slip of the tongue, and believe that Shahan should not be held liable for an honest mistake.

“Why not also share the part where he rectified his mistake and apologised?,” one Instagram user asked.

One other group believes that Kelly deserves such an unfortunate error to happen to her, as they believe that it is some form of karma for the bad they believe she has done.
