Kaizer Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr has addressed rumours of Nasreddine Nabi‘s exit.
This comes after Sunday Times reported that Amakhosi management has opted to part ways with the Tunisian coach.
“The Sunday Times can reveal that Kaizer Chiefs’ top brass have decided against allowing Nasreddine Nabi — who was hired on a two-year deal in July, with an option to extend for another year — to continue beyond the 2024/25 campaign,” the publication reported.
Kaizer Chiefs boss responds to Nabi’s potential exit
On Monday morning, Motaung Jr denied rumours of Nabi’s exit. He told Xoli Zondo on 5FM that the 59-year-old tactician was set to continue for another season.
“Coach has got another season after this with us now,” said Motaung Jr.
“At the same time, like we do after every season, we sit down and review. We know that the results in the league have been inconsistent.”
Nabi has ended Kaizer Chiefs’ 10-year trophy drought by winning the Nedbank Cup this past weekend. With two matches left, his goal is to guide Amakhosi into the top eight.
Having won the Nedbank Cup, the former Young Africans coach said his goal was to get the club back to the top.
“My first objective for the club is to place Kaizer Chiefs back in its natural position. I’m happy for this trophy because it is going to help me continue my process, and it is going to give the fans a lot more confidence in this project,” said Nabi.
It remains to be seen if the club will keep their coach if he fails to finish in the top 8.
