Kaizer Motaung Jr has shared his thoughts on Cedric Kaze’s appointment as Kaizer Chiefs’ new assistant coach, citing the Burundian tactician’s familiarity with Nasreddine Nabi’s methods as an advantage in their pursuit to recapture past glory.

The Soweto giants announced the arrival of Kaze as the new assistant coach on Tuesday afternoon, as reported by FARPost.

Kaze takes over from Fernando Cruz, who departed the role after only two months to pursue a new opportunity with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.

Chiefs described Kaze as a strategic addition to head coach Nasreddine Nabi’s technical team and expressed hope that his expertise will contribute to the team’s success in the new 2024/25 PSL season.

Kaze is joining Amakhosi after a highly successful tenure at Tanzanian powerhouse Yanga SC, where he led the team to an impressive six trophies in just two seasons, working alongside Nabi.

Chiefs have highlighted Kaze’s tactical expertise and extensive coaching experience as the perfect complement to Nabi’s vision for the team.

In a statement, the Naturena-based club added: “Amakhosi believe that Kaze’s addition will enhance the technical team’s capabilities, driving the players to reach new heights and solidifying the Club’s position as a top contender in the league.

“Kaizer Chiefs supporters can look forward to an exciting season ahead as Kaze works together Nabi and the rest of the technical team including Khalil Ben Youssef, Ilyes Mzoughi and Safi Majdi to build a formidable squad.”

In the new campaign under coach Nabi’s guidance, Amakhosi have had a promising start. They are currently in sixth place in the Betway Premiership log standings with six points from three games.

However, Nabi’s troops will shift their focus to the Carling Knockout Cup, where they will face SuperSport United in the Last 16 round on Saturday in Polokwane.
