Kaizer Chiefs are set to lose their 19-year-old defender to a team in Belgium.

Sfiso Timba has impressed the club during his trials at RWD Molenbeek, a Belgian second-division club. With Chiefs currently in need of a proper right-back, it remains to be seen if the Soweto giants will give up their promising star.

According to a Soccer Laduma source, things look good for the young Kaizer Chiefs defender.

“Everyone involved has been getting reports on his progress in Belgium and it’s good reports only. He has impressed in Belgium, and they are happy with what they are seeing. You must remember that they invited him for assessment because they had already seen what he can do, and now that he is there, he is just showing them what he is capable of doing. Things are looking good for him,” said the source.

It is not set in stone that Timba is moving to Belgium. According to the publication, the Belgian team has not decided if the want to sign the youngster or not.

“We can’t jump the gun now and say whether they are signing him or not. That’s too early at this point. There are many advantages to this—for him going there. The experience he has gained can also help Kaizer Chiefs and himself as a player. You know he is in the Under-20 national team, and this can help him grow. But if there is the chance of him signing in Belgium, then it’s still good for him. So everything happening is good.”

The Kaizer Chiefs defender was part of the u20 COSAFA Cup team that won the tournament in Mozambique securing a spot in the Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
